Straight Talk between Space Heroes & Primary Students
In the “Innovation in Science and Technology. Realization of our Dreams” Exhibition, the Hong Kong Celebrations Association (“the Celebrations Association”) organized a special program today (29th June 2017). Three of our nation’s space heroes, Deputy Director General of the China Manned Space Agency, Yang Liwei, astronauts of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong, were invited to have a conversation with 300 local primary students.
Cheng Yiu Tong, Executive Chairman of the Celebrations Association, thanked the three space heroes for their joining us in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. He added that the motherland’s space technology has been growing rapidly and it is hoped that it will help promote Hong Kong’s development in related areas. As primary students are the pillar of our future society Cheng hoped that their conversation with the space heroes can enhance their curiosity and understanding in the nation’s space technology, and they will later become our future space heroes.
The space heroes also expressed their feelings about Hong Kong and the celebration activities. They also encouraged local primary students to work hard in their studies so that they can one day contribute to the national space mission. They then kindly answered some of their questions, which were very interesting and imaginative.
Finally, the space heroes presented souvenirs to the students and had a group photo with them.
